Speedboat or private boat: which should you book?
Book a speedboat if you want more time swimming and less cruising, and a larger private boat if you want space, shade and a roomier day. A speedboat is small, fast and open with limited shade; a larger boat has a sundeck and shaded seating, suits bigger groups and celebrations, and can serve lunch on board.
A speedboat is a small, fast open boat. It gets you from the marina to a reef or island quickly, so more of your day is spent swimming and less is spent cruising. The trade-off is space and comfort: shade is limited to a small canopy, there is no cabin, and in choppy water the ride can be bumpy. It works best for couples, families and small groups who want to be in the water.
A larger private boat (often called a yacht in Hurghada) is slower but roomier. You get a sundeck, shaded seating and room to move around, and lunch can be arranged on board. It is the better choice for bigger groups, birthdays and family celebrations, guests who prefer to relax on deck, or anyone who wants to add fishing to the day.
