Water Sports & Activities in Hurghada

Fly above the bay, watch the reef through glass without getting wet, learn to kite, or spend a day on water slides. Four ways to play in the Red Sea.

Snorkeling and diving are only half of what the Red Sea offers. Water sports in Hurghada cover everything from a short adrenaline hit to a slow, dry look at the coral.

Parasailing (€35) lifts you above the sea behind a boat for wide views of the coast and islands. The glass boat or semi-submarine (from €30) shows you the reef through windows, ideal for non-swimmers, small children and older travellers. Kite surfing uses the steady northerly wind this coast is known for, with sessions for beginners and experienced riders. And the Jungle Water Park day (€50) swaps the beach for slides and pools, with hotel pickup included.

Every activity here depends on the sea and the wind, and each has its own safety rules. We tell you honestly what fits your group before you book.

Can't swim or don't want to get wet?

Pick the glass boat or semi-submarine. You see coral and fish through the windows while staying dry and seated.

Want a quick thrill?

Parasailing is short and easy to fit into a beach day. No experience needed, just follow the crew.

Want to learn a real sport?

Kite surfing takes several hours of lessons to learn safely. Plan it early in your holiday so wind days can be rescheduled.

Travelling with kids?

Jungle Water Park and the glass boat or semi-submarine are the easiest family wins. Tell us children's ages for the right rate.

Water sports in Hurghada for every kind of traveller

Thrill-seekers usually start with parasailing: a briefing, a harness, and a lift-off from the back of a boat. It is short, so it fits into any day.

Non-swimmers and grandparents get the best of the reef on a glass boat or semi-submarine. Glass panels or underwater windows show coral and fish while you sit dry.

Sporty travellers who want a skill to take home should look at kite surfing. Instructors start beginners on the beach with kite control before any riding.

Families often save one day for the Jungle Water Park, especially when the wind is up and boat trips are less comfortable.

Want to get in the water with fish instead? See our Hurghada snorkeling trip or the Grand Aquarium for a family day on land.

Wind, weather and the best time for water sports

Hurghada's coast gets a steady wind from the north and north-west for much of the year. That is great news for kite surfers and a factor for everything else.

Kite spot guides rate May to October as the most consistent wind season around Hurghada, with March, April and November as mid-season. The water stays above about 20°C all year, reaching around 28°C in summer.

Parasailing and boat-based activities need the opposite: calm enough conditions to operate safely. The crew can postpone or cancel when the wind or waves are too strong. Mornings are often calmer, so booking early in your stay gives you room to reschedule.

The water park doesn't depend on wind at all, which makes it a good backup on a blowy day.

Sun is the other factor. The Red Sea sun is strong in every season, and time on the water or high in the air adds up quickly. Use a reef-safe sunscreen, wear a hat and sunglasses with a strap, and drink plenty of water. For kids, a rash vest saves a lot of sunburn on a water park day.

Water Sports & Activities: your questions

What water sports can you do in Hurghada?

With Divers Trips you can book parasailing (€35 per person), a glass boat or semi-submarine trip (from €30), kite surfing (€250, package details confirmed on booking) and a full day at Jungle Water Park (€50 per person). For time in the water with fish, we also run snorkeling, island and diving trips.

What can non-swimmers do in Hurghada?

The glass boat or semi-submarine is the best choice: you view coral and fish through windows while staying dry and seated. Jungle Water Park also has shallow pools and children's areas. On boat trips, life jackets are available, but always tell the crew if someone in your group cannot swim.

Is Hurghada good for kite surfing?

Yes. The Hurghada coast has steady north and north-westerly winds, warm water all year and a mix of shallow lagoons and open water around Hurghada, El Gouna and Soma Bay. Spot guides rate May to October as the most consistent season. Sessions always depend on the wind on the day.

Which activities are best for kids in Hurghada?

Jungle Water Park and the glass boat or semi-submarine are the easiest choices for children. Parasailing and kite surfing have minimum age, weight and safety requirements set by the operator, so contact us with your children's ages before booking and we will confirm what they can join.

Do water sports get cancelled because of wind?

They can. Parasailing, kite surfing and boat trips depend on weather, wind and sea conditions, and the crew or instructor may postpone or cancel when it is not safe. If we cancel, you can choose a free new date, a full refund, or a credit for another trip. Book these early in your holiday so there is time to move the activity to another day.

Is hotel pickup included?

Hotel pickup in Hurghada is included on the Jungle Water Park day. For parasailing and kite surfing, transfers are arranged according to the selected package and your hotel location. For the glass boat or semi-submarine, we confirm pickup details when you book.
